Oneida Casino will be the next casino outlet to be purchased by a consortium led by Canadian casino operator MGM Resorts International.
The deal will allow MGM Resort to bring its casino and entertainment complex to the New England market, where the company operates three casino resorts, the Associated Press reported.
The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter, according to the Associated Post.
MGM Resorts CEO Robert S. DeBlasio said in a statement the deal will create jobs in the communities of Worcester, Woburn, and Oneida.
“We have an extraordinary opportunity to serve New Englanders and continue to attract the best and brightest to our community,” DeBlasso said.
“The acquisition of Oneida will provide our region with a great new casino, a highly respected gaming destination and an excellent economic opportunity for the state of Connecticut.”
