The Atlantic casino is open to the public, and the opening is due to a temporary state-of-the-art $20 million expansion, the owner of the casino said Thursday.
The casino opened in June on the eastern side of Interstate 85 in Oceanside, a town of about 5,500 people just south of Albany.
Its entrance is at the Oceansides High School.
In a statement Thursday, Joe Zagaria, chairman of the Atlantic Casino, said the state-to-state expansion will “provide the casino with the necessary space to accommodate the anticipated influx of customers, which is expected to be in the hundreds of thousands.”
Zagaria did not provide a cost estimate.
The casino’s opening is part of a $70 million project that has been in the works for months and will eventually be complete by the end of 2019.
Zagarian said the Atlantic will offer more gaming slots, slot machines and table games than any other casino in the state.
He said the expansion will add nearly 10,000 slot machines to its regular inventory.
