The Big Fish Casino in Brisbane has confirmed it will play host to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, but it will be hosted by a rival property.
The property is the Stone Casino Resort, which will play a series of games in the first half of 2019 and will host the finals of the NRL grand final in 2018.
While the Rockhampton Rugby League Club has yet to officially confirm its plans for the venue, it is likely to host the final between Brisbane and Newcastle, and the Super League Final in Canberra.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Rocklampton Rugby Club to the Stone casino,” the Stone owner said.
“The Rocklamorphin will provide the Rockamorphin experience for our community, both in the Brisbane area and in the wider community across the country.”
The Stone Casino is also planning to host events for the 2019 Rugby League Grand Final.
The Rockhamptons Rugby League club is the fourth Australian club to be confirmed for the tournament.
It is believed the club will play two games in Brisbane and one in Newcastle, with the Newcastle Grand Final also on the cards.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming the Rocklimpton Rugby league club to our Stone casino and supporting the game of rugby league for many years to come,” Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.
